Useful information for walkers


We are keen to recruit more leaders and members. If anyone is unsure about becoming a leader please chat to one of the Coordinators or any leader.

Please note it is advisable to have a backmarker as well as a leader on walks, both leaders and backmarkers must be members.

There is a lot of information on the main Ramblers website, look under Volunteer Toolkits. These cover a variety of topics ranging from leading a walk to taking up voluntary positions in Ramblers - checking footpaths, using walk manager, submitting Ramblers Routes.

Do make sure you have signed up to Ramblers newsletters and also Area newsletters.

The Ordnance Survey website has a useful summary of navigation skills and videos covering map symbols, scales and compass skills. This can be found here

The Met Office website has helpful videos and pdf transcripts relating to weather conditions when out hillwalking.
