Useful information for walkers

We are keen to recruit more leaders and members. If anyone is unsure about becoming a leader please chat to one of the Coordinators or any leader. The local Walking for Health group - Broxtowe Walk and Talk have a training process for new leaders. This involves starting as a backmarker initially then progressing to leader as and when you feel ready to do so.

Here are some useful aids for all walk leaders and members:

Walk leader safety toolkit found here:  Walk leader checklist

This is a handy checklist covering practical advice on leading a walk and safety on walks.

These are available to members via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please note it is advisable to have a backmarker as well as a leader on walks, both leaders and backmarkers must be members.

It is useful to have an "In Case of Emergency" contact card with you on walks found here: Ramblers ICE card

There is a lot of information on the main Ramblers website, look under Volunteer Toolkits. These cover a variety of topics ranging from leading a walk to taking up voluntary positions in Ramblers - checking footpaths, using walk manager, submitting Ramblers Routes.

Do make sure you have signed up to Ramblers newsletters and also Area newsletters.
